Generally speaking, catching a good freight company to send your things abroad before you move is as hard as finding free candy. There are great businesses that work with guarantees and will take your things and unload without hassle. But booking them is hard as most people would also end up going for them. So how do you find a business that does not have a month long waiting list to shift your things, specifically large items like furniture, to another country?
Do your research well
There is nothing worse than not putting enough time to find a good international moving company and settling for a mediocre one. The chance is you will find a deal for a great freight business right after you are done booking. So when you are doing research, do not just stick to the internet; there is much more information floating around with people who sit next to you. So ask around at your workplace, from friends and family members and other acquaintances that have gone through the hassle of relocating abroad before.
Book in time
Although booking should be delayed until you are done with the research, do not keep trying to find a business until the relocating date comes near. You should book the freight business at least a month ahead of actually sending your things to the country. International moving and shipping businesses like to take their sweet time with preparing documentation so you will need to have patience with them as well. So take at least a month to research and then book the shipping a month ahead of your departure. This will give you time to get your packing done properly and also get everything in motion properly.
Pack properly and label clearly
There are guides on packing large items, fragile items and also tiny items while reducing the hassle for you online. Pick one that seems workable to you with your own commitments and time availability and get packing. Make sure to keep enough labels with you and label each box as you go packing from one room to another. Usually packing will cost you another month or two so better get started with that as soon as you can to avoid last minute rushing.
You will need to stay in constant contact with whichever shipping business that you book. From the beginning of booking until the day that your items arrive at the new place you will need to be in contact with someone from the business, and preferably who is handling your booking.
